Concerts & Performances

From C to Shining C
Karlyn Bond performs twenty-five miniature masterpieces as a multi-movement whole, featuring all major and minor keys and a century of piano writing spanning every phase of Romanticisim. Composers include Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms, Scriabin, Rachmaninov, Grainger, and Bax.

In a Landscape
Karlyn Bond and photographer/video artist David Baddley join character pieces by John Cage with a cutting-edge video installation in a performance that challenges everyone present to question some of the assumed boundary lines between performers and listeners in a live concert setting.

A Trip to France
Lun Jiang, Pegsoon Whang, and Karlyn Bond perform Debussy’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, and Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit. The Ravel will be interwoven with the poetry that inspired it—Aloysius’s Bertrand’s “Ondine,” “Le Gibet,” and “Scarbo”—read in both French and English by Steve Haslam and Anne Stewart Mark.

Jane Austen and Piano Music
In Regency ballroom attire, Dr. Karlyn Bond offers a lecture-recital on the importance of piano music in Jane Austen’s life and work. The CD A Recital from the World of Jane Austen and Austen’s novels will be on sale in the lobby following the show, courtesy of The King’s English Bookshop.
